Design, construction and comfort
The Rockerz 255 Pro Plus follows the same philosophy as its big brothers, the Rockerz 255 and 255 Pro. The overall design of the Rockerz 255 Pro+ is pretty typical of what we’ve seen from most cheap Bluetooth neckphones.
The quality of construction is also decent and justifies the price. Only the ear modules are made of metal, all other parts are made of plastic or PVC. I’m not complaining about the construction, but I’m not very impressed with the quality of the cable construction. The cable is very thin and longer than normal headphones, and it’s a bit uncomfortable when you move your head, while also looking cheap. And the large control panel is also located separately on the right side, which certainly detracts from the luxurious feel.
What I like most about the Rockerz 255 Pro Plus is that the comfort, lightweight design, high quality silicone earbuds and 120 degree curved ear canal provide decent comfort and you can easily wear these earphones for 2-3 hours without interruption without any issues. I also tested these headphones during GYM time and they proved to be very sporty. The helmets are also IPX7 waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about rain or sweat.
On the right side there is a separate control box with a microphone. There are three multi-function keys that are very responsive and allow you to control volume, music tracks and ringtones. You can lower or raise the volume, change music tracks and accept or reject calls by pressing the buttons. You can also control Google and Siri voice support with the power button. There is also a small LED light and a C-type USB port for charging.
Communication and microphone
In terms of connectivity, the Boat Rockerz 255 Pro Plus uses the latest version of Bluetooth v5.0, which is pretty much the standard for Bluetooth headsets in this price range. The best part is that it supports Qualcomm’s aptX codec, which helps maintain a pretty strong and stable connection to the main device and improves overall sound quality. It also supports automatic connection switching, so you can switch devices (up to two devices) in less than a minute. Overall, I found no connectivity or compatibility issues with the Rockerz 255 Pro Plus.
As for the microphone quality, it has a miniature microphone on the outside which is decent in most cases. The microphone features Qualcomm’s Call Noise Cancellation HVAC assembly, which minimizes background noise and improves overall speech clarity. In my tests it works very well indoors, but outdoors this little microphone still has trouble picking up voices at a constant frequency. Sound quality
Now for one of the most important aspects of any headphone you will ever buy: the sound quality. For starters, the Rockerz 255 Pro Plus offers a pretty good sound quality with a good amount of bass with 10mm speakers, the bass response is very high and offers a punchy feel that is Boat Audio’s heritage. So if you like low tones, you will definitely appreciate these headphones. The bass is also deep, making this 255 Pro Plus perfect for listening to music with strong bass.
But as with other headphones with heavy bass, the vocals and treble are muffled a bit compared to the bass, not too much, but still a bit. So if you don’t like heavy bass music, you can do without these headphones. The best part is that it comes with Qualcomm’s APTx codec, as well as SBC and AAC, which improve the overall audio experience and offer low latency. If gaming on a mobile phone is part of your daily routine, then this is the ideal choice for you up to a budget of Rs.1700.
Thanks to the angled design of the ear cups, the earphones also offer good noise isolation. All in all, the Rockerz 255 Pro+ offers solid sound quality with viable bass.
Battery
With a 300mAh battery in the earphones, the company promises about 40 hours of autonomy at 60% volume. But during the test, I discovered it was just a flicker. I have an autonomy of just over 18 hours when listening at 70% volume. And those numbers aren’t bad, 18 to 20 hours of music playback is more than enough for the average user, and most Bluetooth headsets in this price range offer similar battery performance.
It also charges quickly, allowing you to play for 7-8 hours on a 10-minute charge. And thanks to Boat, for providing a C-type USB port for charging.
End of words
For Rs. The Boat Rockerz 255 Pro Plus is a wireless neckband headphone that, at this price, outshines the competition in terms of features. Lightweight design, solid sound with powerful high and low tones and good battery life are the main features of these headphones. So, there is no doubt that the Rockerz 255 Pro Plus is the best buying option for a budget of Rs 1500. But for a price range of Rs 2000 and a balanced audio buff, the OPPO ENCO M31 and OnePlus Z balls are still the best options and not this one. The Boat Rockerz 335 (Rs. 1599) is another solid option to try, the sound quality and functionality are almost the same. Nevertheless, from 1499 onwards. The Boat Rockerz 255 Pro Plus is definitely worth a look.
