Celebrities Openly Speaking About Feminism

Many celebrities have spoken about being feminists, including actress Emma Watson. The sentiment has been echoed by other celebrities, such as Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and Jennifer Lawrence. In recent years, the idea of feminism has become increasingly popular, spreading positively like a National casino review. And it is refreshing to see so many celebrities speaking out about this important issue.

Beyoncé

“I think that being a feminist is, by definition, the belief that all people are equal,” Beyonce said in an interview with Elle UK. “I don’t understand the negative connotation of the word ‘feminist.'”

The singer continued, “Men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. I think that’s a fact. And, you know, if you believe in something, then you should stand up for it.”

Beyonce also addressed the perception that some people have of her as being “perfect.”

“I am far from perfect,” she said. “I have guest DJs on my radio show that help me select music because I’m not always the most knowledgeable about what’s hot out there. I’m learning from them, just like they’re learning from me. I’m not perfect, but I’m perfectly me.”

Taylor Swift

In an interview with The Daily Beast, Taylor Swift spoke about being a feminist and the struggles she’s faced in her career. “Feminism is something that is so important to me, but I feel like a lot of people don’t really understand what it means,” she said. “For me, being a feminist is not about hating men. It’s not even about being equal to men. It’s about having equal rights and opportunities.”

Swift also spoke about the double standards she’s faced as a woman in the music industry. “I feel like there are certain expectations placed on me as a woman that doesn’t exist for men,” she said. “I think that’s something that needs to be talked about more.”

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler spoke about her feminism and how it shaped her life. When asked why she considers herself a feminist, Poehler said, “I believe in equality for all people, regardless of gender. I think that we need to continue to fight for equality and continue to tell women’s stories. And I will continue to be a feminist until the day I die.”

When asked what advice she would give to young girls who are thinking about becoming feminists, Poehler said, “Just do it. It’s not hard. You don’t have to pick a side. You can be a feminist and like boys. You can be a feminist and like pink. You can be a feminist and be whatever you want to be.”

Mindy Kaling

In an interview with NY Mag, actress and comedian Mindy Kaling spoke about her views on feminism. When asked if she considered herself a feminist, Mindy said, “Oh, absolutely. I think of myself as a feminist the same way I think of myself as a humanist… I think we need to be equal partners.”
