Details relative to

Building

Amazon Fire HD and Samsung Galaxy Tab A are similar in size. The weight also remained virtually unchanged, with the Samsung being 0.19 pounds lighter. The biggest difference is the material of their outer skin. The Samsung Galaxy has a metal housing and the Amazon Fire has a plastic housing. Metal seems more expensive.

Both tablets are available in different colours. Samsung Galaxy – black, silver, gold. Amazon fire – black, plum, dusk blue, white. The good thing is that the developers offer many possibilities, not only the classic colors – black and white.

On the right side, in portrait mode, the Samsung Galaxy has an on/off button, a volume button and a microSD card slot, the left side is empty. There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack at the top, a USB-C port at the bottom and two speakers at the side. The rear camera is in the left rear and the front camera in the middle. Judging by the fact that this tablet has a metal casing, it can better withstand falling. But there is no official word about sustainability.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1

At the top, in portrait mode, Amazon Fire has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C port, an on/off button and a volume control. The two columns are on the left, above and below. There’s a MicroSD lock on the right. The rear camera is on the right and the front camera is in the middle. Protection against water or water droplets is not officially mentioned.

Amazon Fire HD 10

We believe that both devices will even be judged according to their design. The Amazon Fire offers more colour choices, but the Samsung Galaxy is more expensive to handle.

Screen

Amazon Fire and Samsung Galaxy have the same screen size, namely 10.1 inch.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A has a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. This is quite normal for 10.1 screens, of course high-end tablets of the same screen size have a higher pixel density. Yet this tablet offers you a great experience, quality and precise details.

Although it is not an IPS screen, it offers very good viewing angles. What’s more, this screen is fully laminated, so there are virtually no internal reflections between the screen and the front glass. This shelf has beautiful colors and is suitable for outdoor use.

The Amazon Fire HD also has a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. With this feature, you get accurate details and amazing colors. This device is also not labeled as an IPS screen, but the viewing angles are still decent.

The Samsung Galaxy wins this round again with a small peculiarity: its brightness. It’s easier to use outdoors.

Camera

Both have two cameras, one in the back and one in the front. But the quality and performance of the two cameras are different.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A has an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, the images are pretty good. Of course you can buy tablets with better cameras, but the videos and photos are much nicer. Not only can you make video calls, but you can also take beautiful photos.

The Amazon Fire HD is equipped with two cameras, both only 2 MP. The images are not very well presented. But we didn’t expect anything better for the price. This tablet is especially useful for video calls, and perhaps for taking pictures of work or school materials.

The Samsung Galaxy is the big winner in this round, yes it is a bit more expensive, but the quality of the camera is not even comparable to that of the Amazon Fire.

Audio system

The Samsung Galaxy and Amazon Fire have two speakers on one side, this function offers no stereo sound.

Amazon Fire’s sound system is not its strongest point, even though it has two Dolby Atom speakers. The highest volume is about 80 dB, which is sufficient to fill a room. But the sound seems small and fading. If you are a music and video enthusiast, we recommend that you buy or replace headphones.

The Samsung Galaxy has also placed two Dolby Atom speakers on one side, so that stereo effect is not possible. The sound is a bit boring, and the speakers are distorted at maximum volume. For this shelf, 80 to 90% of the volume is really good. In general, speakers provide good sound when listening to music or watching videos, but we recommend that you purchase an external audio device.

Neither system is the best, but we think the Samsung Galaxy is slightly better because it has a slightly better sound quality.

Battery life

The tablets are very similar, but what about the battery?

The Samsung Galaxy is equipped with a 6150 mAh battery. Battery life is good. This pill works for about 10 hours. That’s pretty impressive considering the price. If you’re just watching videos or surfing the web, you’ll need to recharge your tablet every two or three days. However, if you play popular games such as PUBG Mobile, you should charge your tablet every two to three hours.

The Amazon Fire has a 6300 mAh battery. It’s a little bigger than the Samsung Galaxy. This tablet will last about 12 hours while the video is streamed at full power. So you can watch your favorite movies, TV shows, videos or books for a long time.

Judging by battery life, Amazon Fire is better. Because it can be used for more hours than the Samsung Galaxy.

Storage

Amazon Fire and Samsung Galaxy do not have many storage options.

Amazon Fire has 32GB and 64GB of internal storage, both with 2GB of RAM. These options support up to 512 GB of external storage with a MicroSD card. Of the 32 GB of memory you get about 24 GB, the 8 GB are either systems or other systems.

The Samsung Galaxy has a slightly larger internal memory. At 32 GB there is 2 GB RAM, at 64 and 128 GB there is 3 GB RAM. In addition, you can expand the storage capacity to 512 GB with a MicroSD card.

Of course, the maximum external storage capacity is the same on both shelves. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A is the winner of this round, yes it costs a little more but has more RAM than the Amazon Fire in two variants.

Power

You don’t expect much for a cheap pill. But Samsung Galaxy and Amazon Fire prove otherwise.

The Amazon Fire HD is powered by a MediaTek MT8173B processor. This device features the latest version of Amazon Fire OS 5.5, a highly customized version of Google’s Android. Surfing the web with the standard Silk browser is fast. Applications open quite slowly and switching between applications is no better, but when you’re in the application, scrolling and navigating is smooth. You can even multitask while you have 6 tabs open, the overall performance will be good.

Do not expect to use this tablet to play the latest demanding games or to replace a laptop. When performing Asphalt 8, it took longer to load the game than other high-end tablets and lacked some images. Of course, there is no problem if you play low demand games like Candy Crush.

The Samsung Galaxy is equipped with an Exynos 7904 octa-core processor. It runs on Android 9.0 (Pie), which is not the latest OS, but it can be upgraded to Android 10.0. You can surf the internet, watch YouTube and read books in peace and quiet. Some demanding requirements, such as. B. Adobe Lightroom, can also be run.

It is very suitable for games, you can easily run PUBG Mobile or Dead 2. PUBG Mobile can work with HD graphics, but this option can sometimes cause a slight stutter, while Balanced is fine. You can set your tablet in Into The Dead 2 to high graphics, but it will have a light offset, it will be smoother if you run it on medium settings.

In terms of performance, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A is the big winner, as it is generally smoother, better able to handle demanding applications and even better able to navigate the internet.

Purchasing guide

Who are these devices intended for?

Judging from the low price of the two tablets, they could be a great first device for your children. Optimal internal storage capacity, multiple colours. For a few extra euros you can get the Amazon Fire Kids Edition with a special soft case, one year FreeTime Unlimited and a two year warranty that covers any damage caused by the user.

It’s also good for people who use tablets for entertainment, reading books, watching streaming videos and gaming.

What can you do with these devices?

With both tablets you have easy access to the internet. Jumping from different web pages with only occasional stuttering here and there. The large, bright screen will be your next step in everyday life. However, the delay is longer when opening websites or scrolling pages with Amazon Fire.

Samsung Galaxy and Amazon Fire are suitable for reading e-books. Large screen, relatively high brightness and resolution. Thanks to the long battery life, you can read your favourite things for hours. These features make your daily reading even more fun.

You can easily watch movies, TV shows and videos on both devices. Because it has a large screen, good resolution and good autonomy. Watching your favorite shows on these shelves will make your experience even better. However, we recommend that you purchase headphones or headsets to get a stereo sound effect.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A is better when it comes to gaming. It has more RAM and a better processor. You can run demanding games such as PUBG and Asphalt 8, but the Amazon Fire HD 10 is distinguished by the fact that this tablet can support Fortnite. Low demand games such as Candy Crush and Geometry Dash can be played on both boards.

Last sentence

This is the test in which we compared the Amazon Fire HD 10 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1. The Samsung Galaxy performs better than the Amazon Fire in almost all areas, only the battery life is slightly better on the Amazon Fire. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy can perform more complex tasks easier than Amazon Fire.

Although the Samsung Galaxy Tab A is slightly more expensive, it has better features than the others. But if you don’t want to spend more on a tablet and want to buy one for your kids, for example, the Amazon Fire HD 10 might be a better choice.
