Fix: Google Assistant not talking

There is little competition for PDAs on smartphones, with Google’s wizard wiping the floor with other options as it stands. In addition to its features and capabilities, ease of use and user interface, Google Assistant is integrated into so many devices that it is accessible to most Android users worldwide. But it’s not all praise and there are certainly underlying issues that cast a shadow over the overall experience. For example, some users report that Google Wizard is unresponsive.

Why isn’t my Google Assistant talking to me?

There are several reasons why Google Assistant can’t talk or give voice responses to your questions and commands. First, make sure that voice output is set to Full in the language settings of the wizard. Setting Google as the default voice assistant should also help.

You can also remove local data or, to be even more precise, remove application updates and check for enhancements.

1. Activate voice output and default voice assistant

First, make sure that the voice output is activated. Unhappy that Google’s wizard was too talkative, Google introduced a middle term. Therefore, you can currently choose between default full voice display, short voice display and no voice display (except handsfree). This parameter affects responses to requests, actions and operations.

Also, not all Android skins offer Google Assistant (or Google) as their main voice assistant. Therefore, you need to set the wizard itself as the default option. Follow these steps to set Google Assistant as the default voice assistant on non-Android-based Android skins:

1. Open the settings.
2. Select applications.
3. Touch All Requests (Request Management or Request Management).
4. Touch the three-point menu and select Default Applications.
5. Set Google as the default application for the Voice Wizard.

2. Check the language and text settings of the wizard

In the next step, make sure the language assistant is set to English (US). Yes, you can use more than a few alternative languages, but results and conversational skills may vary.

To change the language of the wizard to English (USA) :

1. Go to Settings > Google > Account Services > Search, Wizard and Retargeting, and open Google Assistant.
2. Select the languages.
3. Open the list and select English (US) as the default language.

You should also check the accessibility settings, that is, the default text-to-speech service. By default, you must install the Google Text-to-Speech engine. You can also change the tempo, pitch and intonation of the voice.

Follow these options to set the Google Text-to-Speech engine as your default:

1. Open the settings.

3. Google application update and beta program release

4. Removing data from the Google application

If the above steps are not completed and the Google Wizard is still not talking to you, check if your application data has been deleted. You can try using only the cache first, and if that doesn’t help, wiping all locally stored data is the obvious next step.

Here’s how to clear the cache and data from the Google application:

1. Go to Settings > Apps > All applications (Manage Applications or App Manager) > Google again.
2. Click on the share.
3. Press Clear Cache.
4. Restart the device.
5. If the reminders still do not arrive, select Clear memory and then OK to confirm the action.

5. Remove Google application updates

The next step is to reset the Google application to its default values. Since it is a system application (at least with most official ROMs), it cannot be removed completely. But removing the updates and updating the application should solve most of the problems.

This is how you remove updates from the Google app on your Android device:

3. Tap on Remove Updates.
4. Restart your device and make sure you install the updates before installing Google Assistant.

You can also delete your Google Account and sign in again. To do so, go to Settings > Accounts > Your Google Account. Delete the account, restart the device, and sign in again.
