Have you ever wondered why people always try to remove the background of an image to make it transparent?

The main reason is to make the images more powerful. With no background in the image, you can overlay this image onto any other image to create a masterpiece. You can also use a colored background of your choice.

But how are you going to do it?

This is where Paint 3D comes in. Despite its name, it is not the classic MS Paint, but a modern graphics editor that allows you to edit 2D and 3D objects with different effects.

Windows recently integrated Paint 3D with the Snipping Tool and Microsoft Paint. So when you take a screenshot with the cut tool, it opens in Paint 3D where you can edit it directly.

In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the steps involved in using Paint 3D to ensure background transparency.

Let’s get started.

1. Selection of an object with the magic selection tool

Step one: Open the image you want to make transparent in Paint 3D. You can upload an image from the Internet or select an image from your gallery. For example, let’s take a picture of a smiling face.

Step two: Click on the magic selection tool in the top panel.

Step three: Select the part of the image you want to make transparent using the check box. You can use the sides or corners to adjust the size of the selection.

When you are finished, click Next.

Step four: You’ll be amazed, because Paint 3D will automatically detect the object in the selected frame. If you don’t want to change anything, click Done,

You can also add or remove part of the selection range to refine the result.

You can also use the add and remove image tools to select the part of the image you want to add or remove.

In our example, Paint 3D separated the object perfectly, so we didn’t need to use the Add and Remove tools.

Step Five: Once you have clicked Finish, another box will appear on the outside of your item, indicating that the item has been successfully detached. You can now rotate the object in the X, Y and Z axis.

  1. Remove Background
  2. Using a new file

Method 1: Clear context

Step one: Select an image and drag it out of the background. Make sure the image is placed completely out of the background.

Step two: Click on the selection tool in the top left corner and select the entire background with the mouse. To check whether the background is selected or not, a box with dotted lines around the background is successfully selected.

Step three: To completely remove the selection, press the Del key or the Delete key on the keyboard.

Step four: You will now see a white background. Select the object and drag it to the background.

The background has been successfully removed. Now go to Make the white background transparent for the next steps. However, you can also check another method to remove the background in Paint 3D.

Method 2: Use of a new file

The second way to remove the background is to create a new image. Follow the steps below to get started.

Step one: Right-click on a single object and select Copy from the menu.

Step two: Click on Menu in the upper left corner and select New. A dialog box appears asking whether you want to save the previous project or not. Click on No backup.

Step three: A new project opens on a white background. Right click on the background and choose Paste, or press Ctrl+V.

Your image is inserted on a white background.

3. Make the bottom transparent

Once your image is on a white background, you can remove it and make the background transparent. Now click on Canvas and a menu will appear on the right.

The Transparent Canvas switch must be enabled in the menu, as it is disabled by default.

Pay attention: You can also activate the transparent canvas by right-clicking on the image and selecting the Canvas option.

After enabling the Transparent Canvas option, you can see that the white background is removed and the images become transparent.

4. Save transparent image

The last step is to save the transparent image to the desktop, following the steps below.

Step one: Click on Menu in the top left corner and a menu with different options will open. In the Image File Format menu, select Save As.

Step two: The first thing to check is whether the Save As type is in PNG (image) format or not. If not, change it to PNG (image). Other available formats : JPEG (image), BMP (image), GIF (image), TIFF (image) MP4 (video) and GIF (video).

If you want to change your photo, for example B. save as JPEG, the transparency is lost and it is loaded with a white background.

The other thing to look for is transparency. To load an image with a transparent background, check the Transparency box.

Pay attention: If you skip the step that allows you to make the white background transparent with the Canvas option, check the Transparency box and your white background will automatically become transparent.

Step three: Finally, click the Save button. Moreover, your images are successfully recorded on a transparent background.

Pay attention: In our example, we have a non-white background, and we first create the white background and then remove it. If you have an image with a white background, you must also follow all the steps above.
