For users who need a larger screen, this is an acceptable compromise.

Don’t expect much in terms of build quality or functionality. The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 81WF000TUS has an all-plastic chassis, no touchscreen, and no backlit keyboard. Honestly, typing was generally much more enjoyable than I expected. It’s hard to find a more compact laptop.
Good performance for daily work
The performance is, as expected, mediocre. It is equipped with an Intel Core i3-1005G1 processor, which is slightly less powerful than the Intel Core i5. However, it is much, much faster and more reliable than the Celeron. With this processor, you can surf the web, edit documents, stream online content, multitask and much more without feeling slowed down. For example, you will notice a delay when you try to edit a video. But this activity goes beyond what this laptop is designed for.
Lenovo has equipped the IdeaPad 3 17IIL05 81WF000TUS with 8 gigabytes of DDR4-2666 RAM. This amount should be sufficient for most users. If you want to upgrade, make sure the 4 gigabytes are soldered to the motherboard. You can add just one compatible 8-gigabyte memory module to achieve a total system memory capacity of 12 gigabytes.
The storage capacity is comparable to other laptops of similar price range. Lenovo offers a fast 256GB M.2 2242e PCIe NVMe SSD. If you are in need of additional storage space, you are in luck. An additional slot allows you to connect another 2.5″ SATA 3 drive.

Moreover, the clarity leaves something to be desired. Despite the anti-reflective coating, you will have difficulty working in direct sunlight or in brightly lit rooms on sunny days.
Discrete connection panel
First, there is no USB-C port. Shortcomings aside, the Lenovo IdeaPad 17IIL05 has a decent number of input/output ports. Three USB ports (two USB 3.2 and one USB 2.0) let you connect a mouse and keyboard and charge your phone at the same time. Only one external display can be connected at a time via the HDMI port. There is an SD memory card reader and an audio combo jack.
In terms of connectivity, you have Wi-Fi 5 2×2 and Bluetooth 5.0. Almost nothing fancy, but you don’t need advanced wireless technology to replace your home or office desktop computer.
Insufficient battery life
Battery life is average, with a single charge lasting 5-6 hours for light use and up to 7-8 hours for multimedia playback. I bet whoever decides to buy this laptop won’t be too far from an outlet when using it. Battery life isn’t impressive (partly because of the large screen), but I don’t think that’s a big deal.

Overall, I think the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 81WF000TUS is a good desktop replacement. If your PC is outdated and underperforming, this model will definitely give you a much-needed breath of fresh air. Sure, it’s an entry-level device with no features, but it gets the job done if you don’t overdo it.

As mentioned earlier, the Lenovo is only recommended for regular users for home or office use. If you want a more powerful device, I’d go for the Intel Core i5-based Acer Aspire 5 A515. If you are willing to accept a slightly smaller screen size, then yes. It costs about $70 more, but offers many more features, screen quality, performance and connectivity options.
