The visuals and graphics of GTA V remain one of the most adaptive. Yes, it is difficult to compare with RDR 2, but even now, everything looks high-quality and pretty good. Unless you did not see the graphic mods.
Among hundreds of GTA V mods, the best today are two titans: Ray Fusion and QuantV. Both projects have earned the recognition of players and are supported by developers and receive regular updates. Now let’s talk about each, compare, and download.
Ray Fusion
Ray Fusion is a relatively new but already popular graphics mod. It focuses on realistic lighting behaviour and post-processing effects, with a specific emphasis on enhanced ray effects, ambient occlusion, and contrast control. This is not a complete texture overhaul like NVE once was, but a deep rework of the game’s visual presentation and atmosphere.
- Color grading. Updated LUT profiles deliver a warmer tone during daylight and a cold urban tone at night, giving the game a modern cinematic palette.
- Lighting and shading. Dynamic sunlight vibes, realistic shadows, and support for custom ReShade features. Daytime transitions (morning/noon/evening) look smoother.
- Weather tweaks. The mod modifies fog layers, cloud formations, and sunlight penetration. Storms and overcast days look heavier, while clear skies glow with soft, HDR-like light.
- Performance-aware shaders. Ray Fusion is lighter than older massive mods: no 4K assets or high-poly clutter. Instead, it enhances visuals through efficient shader work.
- Reshade-ready. Comes with built-in support for the latest ReShade builds, offering multiple presets tailored for cinematic or high-visibility gameplay.
Ray Fusion was mostly designed for non-high-end PCs. It’s not as demanding as full-scale overhaul mods: average performance loss on mid-range systems is about 5–15%. That makes it ideal for players who want a visible upgrade without lag and FPS drops because of new shadows and shaders.
QuantV
QuantV is an alternative for most graphics mods created by the Quant team. This mod has a less demanding architecture and is optimized for medium configurations. The visual style of the mod is a bit brighter and more “gamey” than the realistic modifications.
- Light and sun. Realistic sun rays and rich lighting effects.
- Weather. Reworked weather scenarios with transitions, clouds, and rain.
- Optimization. The mod runs more easily on weak PCs.
- Reflections. Improved glare on water and mirror surfaces.
The main advantage of QuantV is the balance between quality and performance. The mod is well optimized and suitable for most configurations. If you don’t want to lose a lot of FPS (or you don’t have RTX), then this is the perfect option.
The Difference Between Ray Fusion and QuantV
Ray Fusion focuses on lighting and visual tone. It doesn’t modify terrain or objects but overhauls the way light interacts with the environment. The result is more natural transitions and a photorealistic feel, especially in dynamic weather. It requires some GPU power but stays within a reasonable range.
QuantV is also an balanced option. The graphics are also great, but without excessive detail. The colors are slightly more saturated, and the effects are easier to process. Suitable for those who want to update the visuals without a serious loss of FPS.
How to Safely Install Graphics Mods
To install either mod, you’ll need a properly set up GTA V client. Below is a universal step-by-step guide.
Installing Ray Fusion:
- Go to FiveMods, download the app
- Search for Ray Fusion in Graphics Tab
- Download the mod.
- You can also select other mods, using ‘Library’ tab
- Wait for mods to be downloaded and installed automatically
- Enjoy!
Ray Fusion works best with MSAA off and FXAA on. You can also tweak individual shader toggles inside ReShade for a better balance between quality and FPS. You can also get ENB for GTA 5 Legacy to make it look even better!
Installing QuantV:
- Subscribe to the Quant Patreon (there is also a free and paid membership).
- Download the archive with the latest version of the mod and instructions.
- Make sure that ScriptHookV and OpenIV are installed on the system (required).
- Transfer the files to mods, respecting the folder structure.
- If necessary, adjust the .ini file to your screen and quality settings.
- Launch the game and test.
If everything was installed correctly, the game should run without issues. The first launch may take a bit slower, based on new settings. If the game crashes or a script error appears, try reinstalling or check the QuantV Discord for troubleshooting help.
Sometimes it requires a bit of understanding for how to install mods. If you do not want to care much about it – simply install FiveMods and forget about manual installs.
